The shotgun is a 12-gauge Meridian from 1907, and is elaborately
engraved and color case-hardened. The display case needed to be of the
highest quality, but without detracting from the gun. Basswood was used
for the case and the door with the dovetails and dowels as subtle
ornamentation. The real case details are concealed within: a lock with
blued steel parts to match the shotgun, solid brass piano hinge, solid
brass locating pins around door frame, solid cherry door supports
(mortised into the door), walnut support pegs, and red flannel lining.
The unit hangs on a French cleat. |
